The State of Israel and itscitizens are fighting for their own right to life everywhere, in Jerusalem as in Judea and Samaria. Muslim terrorists are slaying Jews in their own cars, streets and houses. But the “free world” pays no attention to Jewish blood spilled with impunity.

Another tragedy is unfolding in the civilized world, a world which is also turning its head away while Christians are being killed in the Middle East. According to the NGO Open Doors, in 2014 there were 4,344 Christianskilled because they are Christians. That, so far, was the year with the highest level of global persecution of Christians in the modern era. 2015 will probably be even worse.

A report by the liberal Center for American Progress says that most of the Christian communities of the Middle East are going to disappear. Churches will become museums, rather than places of worship, or will be converted to Islamic mosques.

Christians were 95 percent of the population in the Middle East in the VII century, 20 percent in 1945, down to 6 percent today and they are expected to halve in 2020. “Will there still be Christians in the Middle East in the third millennium?”, asked the French diplomat Jean-Pierre Valognes in the book “Vie et mort des chrétiens d’Orient”. The answer is no.

Ron Lauder: “The ‘N’ of Christians in Mosul is like the yellow Star of David that the Nazis forced Jews to wear”.
The much vaunted heterogeneity of the Middle East is shrinking to the monotony of asingle religion, Islam, and a handful of languages and haggard Christian communities.

Rabbi Jacob Neusner, who had a dialogue on Judaism with former Pope Benedict XVI, told me that not only did the world close its eyes to this apocalyptic Christians’ persecution, but even most of the Christian leaders in the West are guilty of deliberately keeping silent about the massacres and harassment of entire Christian communities.

The Israeli ambassador to the UN, Ron Prosor, compared the expulsion of masses of Christians from Arab countries to that of 800,000 Jews from Arab countries in 1948. That was the end of Judaism on Islamic soil. Ron Lauder, president of the World Jewish Congress, wrote that “the ‘N’ ofChristians in Mosul is like the yellow Star of David that the Nazis forced Jews to wear”.

From Tripoli to Damascus, Christians are disappearing while Israel has been an oasis for all the minorities now being massacred by Islamists: the Bahais who fled the Iranian ayatollahs, the Druze, the Yazidi and theChristians. In this region abandoned to a ferocity with no boundaries, Israel is the only country, in a span of thousands of kilometers that goes from Marrakech to Tehran, where the Christian community not only does not suffer, but even grows.

Christians should see Israel as the first line of of non-Islamic survivalworldwide. Those who want to destroy the Jewish State in the West are also signing the death sentence of the last free Christians in the Middle East.
