Jewish Identity is a bundle of characteristics which identify the Jewish People. One cannot say whether one factor is the essential factor or another. Many Jews have a strong sense of Responsibility, one for the other, (Arevut) without having an attachment or even knowledge of the complex of Mitzvot in the Torah System of Law. It is important to note this in the various public discussions on Jewish Identity and in the methods and purposes of many groups bringing Jews closer to a Jewish heritage.
