Gerald Parkoff is the founder of The Parkoff Letter.Org.
He grew up in Lawrence, L.I., New York and attended HILI (Hebrew Academy of Long Island), P.S. #1 in Lawrence, Lawrence High School, and The University of Rochester. He graduated in 1963 with a B.A. in Philosophy with Honors.
The course of Philosophy studied there included the History of Philosophy, the Philosophy of Ordinary Language, and Mathematical Logic. The English and American Philosophers were the main focus of these studies. Particular mention should be made of Wittgenstein, C.I. Lewis, and P.F. Strawson.
After a period of time working in a family business, Gerald spent twelve years on the floor of The American Stock Exchange trading options. It is for that reason that the Theory of Randomness as presented in the works of Nassim Nicholas Taleb were focused on with particular interest.
Over the years, Gerald studied Torah Topics with his father-in-law, Rabbi Jacob Benjamini,z’l, Rabbi Chaim Wasserman of the Young Israel of Passaic, NJ, and Rabbi Jay Miller, z’l. Mention should also be made of the lectures by Rabbi Yonasan Sacks, then of Yeshiva University, Rabbi Berel Wein, and Rabbi Schneur Leiman, of Yeshiva University and Brooklyn College.
Gerald currently lives in Efrat, Israel with his wife, Shulamith. The Parkoffs are very busy grandparenting.
